How to Choose a 4th Grade Science Project

It usually happens in fourth grade: Your child comes home with a packet of material about the upcoming science fair. For many children, this is the first time they've been required to do a science project. They may be excited, or they may face the prospect with dread. Whichever, it's up to the parent to make sure that the science project gets done.

Your child may have very specific ideas about what he or she would like to submit to the science fair. Before you let excitement rule, however, you need to find out the specific science project guidelines your child must follow. First of all, what type of science project is required? Unbelievably, there are five kinds:

Educational Science

Investigative projects - Most science fairs require students to do an experiment, and usually, this is an investigative, or investigatory science project.

How to Choose a 4th Grade Science Project

Demonstration projects - This type of project is usually done in class as opposed to a science fair, with the student demonstrating a scientific principle to the class.

Research project - Basically, a research project is a report on a scientific topic.

Models - Models are a three dimensional representation of an object or a concept in science.

Collections - In this type of project a collection of objects is displayed to give an overview of a topic.

Also be aware of any restrictions the science fair or your school may have. Can you use/display food? What about animals? Will your child have to perform the experiment in front of judges?

Once you find out what kind of science project your fourth grader needs, it's time to find out what project he or she wants to do. As you search, keep the following questions in mind:

1. Can I find the materials needed for the science experiment? Once my son needed powdered laundry starch for a project. Since nobody irons much anymore, it's not easy to find!

2. Are the supplies expensive? One science project we considered called for SIX reusable hand warmers. They are almost each, plus shipping. We found something else to do.

3. Can the science project supplies be located in time? If you have to order something, will it arrive in time for you to do the project thoroughly?

4. Is this project within my child's ability level? Is it safe? Science projects are for your CHILD to do - with your assistance. Not the other way around.

5. Will this project really work? My mom tried for years to make a battery out of a lemon, and never succeeded.

A 4th grade science project is a huge undertaking. Take it from us - we have four sons, each of whom was required to enter the science fair in fourth grade. We've had failures and successes, tears and smiles. And always, after the 4th grade project, we had the 5th grade project right around the corner!

7th Grade Science Fair Project Ideas

7th grade science fair project ideas are likely more involved than the projects you've done in previous years. The science fair at your school is likely more competitive for your age group and there's a good chance your peers will be putting a lot more time and effort into their projects than they have in previous years, so you'll want to do the same for your 7th grade science projects.

One interesting idea might be to see which type of cheese mold will grow on the fastest. This is a great project because it's interesting, but still fairly simple. Another idea for a project might be to see if you can grow a plant without soil. You can try placing seeds in various things such as a wet paper towel, grass clippings, coffee grounds, etc to see if they will grow. Be creative!

Educational Science

You could find out whether the presence of smoke in the air affects plant transpiration. Perhaps you could look into whether or not there is ever acid snow, we all know there is acid rain, but what about snow? You can find this out by testing the PH level of the snow and comparing it to the PH level of acid rain. Obviously this particular project only works in the winter months. There are many great topics out there for your 9th grade science project, it's just a matter of finding one that interests you, researching and testing it out and presenting it in a professional manner.

India is one of those economies which has been experiencing the growth of electronic industries by leaps and bounds. Especially during the last couple of decades the growth has been phenomenal. Against this background, battery tenders offer excellent business opportunities for all types of enterprises.

Battery Tender Features

Educational Science

Electrical batteries are made with electrochemical cells that are used to convert stored chemical energies into electrical energies. Batteries today are the source of power for most of the commercial and household devices and establishment today. In addition batteries have multiple uses in industries. In addition to the local scope, battery tenders have a global feature also. Worldwide battery sales count for around billion with growth of around 6% annually.

Battery Tenders Offer Excellent Scope of Business in a Society Dependent on Electronic Devices

Types of Battery Tenders in India

Usually such tenders in India are floated for procurement of two types of batteries as follows.

Primary or disposable batteries those are used once and discarded. Secondary or rechargeable batteries that can be recharged and are reusable. Miniature batteries that are used to power mobiles, hearing aids, wrist watches while there are certain larger size batteries that are used to provide standby powers in UPS and such devices.

Scope of Business Winning Battery Tenders

Aspirant entrepreneurs would do well by understanding the scope of business that will come their way by winning the tender. One of the best things about winning such tenders is that the scope is much greater than other types of consumer goods where the target customer group is limited. Batteries are used by everyone whether for domestic, commercial, industrial, educational, or any other purposes.

Major Sources for Battery Tenders

Some of the major sources of battery tenders are as follows.

Industries using batteries for providing back up power. Automobile showrooms and garages requiring batteries for powering the motors. Power generation companies requiring alternative powers to their generators. Telephone and mass communication industries requiring back up and normal power supplies. Wholesale suppliers and battery manufacturers looking for retail outlets. Defense services, shipyards, railways, and transportation departments requiring the batteries. Healthcare institutions, hospitals, medical colleges, and clinics where batteries are used to run electronic devices as well as for running generators. Educational institutions; especially those having science laboratories, libraries, and computer labs. IT industries running computers and printers require batteries for Uninterrupted Power Supply or UPS. There are multiple other sources for the battery tenders but these are some of the most common sources.

Getting Information

Responding to and winning bids could provide great business opportunities for every bidder irrespective of their status. However, it is necessary getting required information about the tenders floated from time to time. Print and electronic media, trade journals, magazines, yellow pages, boards and banners, and brochures all contain information on such tenders.

However, the best source of information always is the Internet, the largest living library on the earth.

Fourth Grade Science Fair Projects

Fourth grade students are very energetic and their span of attention or concentration is very small. Above that, they want to observe, infer, predict and classify anything taught on science. Learning by doing is a good concept and it registers in their young minds and they can never go wrong in their examinations. For this, a lot of schools conduct fourth grade science fair. Here, all the fourth grade science fair projects will be displayed.

The children explain their fourth grade science fair projects, while the others watch these projects and learn. Teaching them in a play way method is very effective. Here are few fourth grade science fair projects for this age group.

Educational Science

Salt increases the density of water. Add four to five tablespoons of salt in a glass of water stir it nicely and float an egg. Also add little more luke-warm fresh water and check, the egg will float in-between the salt and the water. Try using sugar or flour in the water the egg will sink.

Fourth Grade Science Fair Projects

Which water is good for plants can be made as a project by selecting a pot with some seeds; one pot can be watered with tap water, the other pot to be watered with only rain water. Check the growth for seven weeks; the rain water watered pot is better.

Will plants grow with a liquid other than water can be done in an effective project by selecting four pots, Water the first pot with water, second one with vinegar, third one with orange juice and fourth one with milk. The result is the one with water grows the maximum, the one with vinegar dies as it is an acid, the one with orange juice and milk also grows but nowhere near as much as the pure source.

A fourth grade science fair project to test which environment is best for plants. Take three pots, one with sand, one with soil, and one with gravel and put few seeds in each pot, wet them at regular intervals and make a graph, the seeds in the soil grew the maximum.

Classification of mammals -- Mammals are found every where. Polar bears in cold areas, camels in hot areas, moles live under the ground, bats live in caves and flies in the air and dolphins live in oceans. Fur and fat help them to protect themselves in cold regions and they sweat and pant to release their extra heat. A fourth grade science fair project can be made by cutting and pasting picture of mammals and their place of rest.

Sunflower house project: On the ground draw a square and plant sunflower seeds leaving enough space between two seeds all in the perimeter of the square, but don't forget to leave a little space in the front side for the door. Once the sunflower plants grow one inch, plant bean seeds around each sunflower plant. As they grow the beans will climb up the sunflower stalks and create a wonderful playhouse for the children. In this way they learn the characteristics of creepers, flower plants, trees, shrubs etc.

Excellent features of sunflowers are we can get oil, easy to grow and a good bird feeder, Make a sun and a flower and label its uses.

Life cycle of a butterfly - egg, caterpillar, cocoon and then a beautiful butterfly can be made live in your garden.

A Bird house can be made in wood, to encourage birds to come and live. Observe the birds and their habits.

Instincts can be taught in a project form by showing baby birds open their mouth for food, baby turtles know to go to the sea when their eggs hatch.

Children at this age group should be given simpler fourth grade science fair projects to keep them occupied. Once they are occupied and disciplined, teachers job become easier to make them learn and enjoy schooling.

5th Grade Science Fair Project Ideas Made Fun and Easy

For 5th grade science fair projects that are fun, easy and appealing, it is often best to use simple materials and equipment around the house and in stores as well as to apply simple processes. This way, your child will not be intimated by the thought of tackling complex materials and processes that can cause him to back out halfway through the project.

Simple Materials and Equipment

Educational Science

You need not spend plenty of money on buying complex and potentially hazardous materials like chemical substances to make an excellent science fair project. Your child's teacher will even discourage it because safety is always first in science.

5th Grade Science Fair Project Ideas Made Fun and Easy

Your child can use the measuring spoons and glasses, pots and pans, and even ladles to measure, mix and make your science projects, with the added advantage that he can keep it secret from the rest of the school. Now, contrast that with letting your child do his experiments in the school laboratory. And you can make it fun for him and the rest of the family! Well, of course, your child must do majority of the 5th grade science projects but you can help out, can't you?

For example, in an experiment where wet plaster is dropped from varying heights to predict the size of craters when meteorites fall on the Earth, you can help your child arrive at just the right consistency of the plaster. All you need are water and plaster of Paris and a small box filled with soil.

You have to guide your child, encourage his innate curiosity and build on it for numerous 5th grade science fair projects. You will be surprised at how many questions he has that can be answered with simple demonstrations using simple materials and equipment.

Simple Processes

No matter how simple the process adapted, it must still adhere to the scientific method. This way, your child can be involved from the first to the last step of the scientific process that, in turn, will make him better prepared to present the results of his study.

Keep in mind, however, that the scientific process is not a set of rigid rules. You can be more flexible with the process but within limits since objective observations and results must be made. After all, 5th grade science fair projects are supposed to be fun - not rigid - and easy.

For example, in an experiment where the growth of Venus flytraps are studied, the process can be simplified by confining the variables to just a few number, the hypothesis to just one, and the data collection period to just a few days' time. Thus, only the variable of types of feed is changed, only one hypothesis is made in that the one fed the crickets will grow the fastest because of the protein content, and the period is limited to just 2 weeks instead of 3 weeks.

With 5th grade science fair projects, you can encourage your child to seek more answers to his questions simply because the materials and equipment used are easy to use and the processes adopted are easy to follow.

Middle School Science Fair - How to Make a Fake Volcano

The model volcano is a classic middle school science fair project idea that teaches two concepts at once. Students who build model volcanoes should understand the forces at work behind the volcano as well as the chemical reaction that makes their model volcano "erupt." The purpose of the model volcano eruption is to teach the concept of chemical reactions by showing what happens when vinegar and baking soda are combined. Here's how to make a fake volcano that really "erupts" for your next middle school science fair project.

Materials

Educational Science

1 box of modeling clay

Middle School Science Fair - How to Make a Fake Volcano

Scrap newspapers

Disposable baking pan

Empty half-liter plastic soda bottle

4 tbsp baking soda

1/2 cup vinegar

Liquid dish detergent

Red food coloring

Alka-seltzer tablets (optional)

Scissors

Funnel

Plain paper

Pens or pencils

Building the Model Volcano

1. Line the disposable baking tray with three or four layers of scrap newspaper. The newspaper will help hold the model volcano in place and protect the baking tray and the floor.

2. Place the empty soda bottle in the middle of the tray. Now it is time to mold a model volcano out of the clay. Look at pictures of volcanoes until you have a good idea of their ideal shape. Volcanoes are pretty much just mountains with an open crater where the lava escapes, but you can use your creative skills to build any size or shape volcano you want, as long as it fully contains the empty soda bottle.

3. Using your plain paper and pens and pencils, draw people, buildings, and other things to be destroyed by the "lava" that will eventually erupt. Leaving a small tab at the bottom of each drawing (at least a half inch), cut out the buildings and other things you draw. The tab will be used to hold the drawings in place on the volcano itself, as the drawing are overcome by the "lava."

4. Attach your drawings to the volcano itself using the half-inch tabs. The drawings of people and buildings and other things will stand straight up out of the model clay.

5. Now that your volcano is built, you can start the model eruption. Since your model clay will be soggy and ruined after your eruption, don't try to cause the eruption until it is time to present the project.

Eruption

1. Add a few drops of red food coloring to the bottom of the soda bottle. How much you use depends how red you want your lava to be.

2. Fill the empty bottle with warm water using your funnel. Stop when the water is three inches from the top of the bottle.

3. Place six or seven drops of liquid detergent into the bottle.

4. Pour the baking soda into the bottle using your funnel.

5. Add the vinegar to the mixture with your funnel. If you want a longer eruption, you can toss in an Alka Seltzer tablet at the same time. Remove the funnel as fast as you can to let the chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda happen quickly.

Free Easy Science Fair Projects For Kids

Selecting a topic for a science fair project may be a great deal of trouble for the students. If the topics or topic ideas are freely available on a site and easy to do it with the inexpensive materials available that will be of more help. There are many good examples of free and easy science fair projects that you can do in almost any scientific field, so there are an abundance of choices available to the student and to the parent. While students should be encouraged to choose a topic of their interest, if they seem to have expensive tastes, a parent should step in to guide them towards something more economical.

The free easy science fair projects include those projects which can be easily done and with easily available household materials. It could be anything from an empty milk can to egg carton. A good science fair project does not have to be expensive. Often the best project ideas come from simple observations of daily life.

Educational Science

Methods to control the cost of a science fair project:

Free Easy Science Fair Projects For Kids

- Choose a topic related to simple theme.

- Use public resources like library to collect information.

- Take the advantage of school computer lab for Internet resources.

- Use the materials that are available easily without spending much.

Projects with magnets are very inexpensive, simple, and fun filled. To test the properties of magnets we just need two magnets and some pins and iron rods. The outcome will be fantastic as the experiments will be exciting. Another free easy science fair project idea will be the topics related with plants. Plants make perfect subject for science fair projects, as plants, soil, seeds, and other required materials are easily available, inexpensive, and the procedures are also easy to be carried out. If you want to really control costs, you can even work with grass from your lawn, or rocks from your garden. This is probably a little extreme, but you have to do what you have to do.

Simple observation of night sky may even be a wonderful idea for free easy science fair project, as it does not cost to observe that. Then collect resources related with constellation, phases of moon, and location of various stars. Then drawing reasonable conclusions and presenting the report will turn out to be good project. Water can serve as an excellent topic for free easy science fair project as a number of water related experiments can be done and the results can be presented to draw conclusion.

It is not about spending a lot of money to present a good project, but it is the concept and the way it is presented matters. We should keep in mind that science is all around and not only in fancy technology and expensive gadgets.

A science fair project generally compares two variables to check what works and what does not. It also explores the different dimensions of scientific literacy. The great thing about these experiments is that there are no wrong or right answers. The same can be said of selecting a project. There is not a finite set of science fair projects, so you can always invent something completely on your own. Whatever your selection, as long as yours follows the guidelines set out by your school, university, or individual teacher, then you can be sure of a good grade and a solid performance. Money isn't everything, especially when it comes to schoolwork.

5th Grade Science Experiments Made Fun and Easy

5th grade science experiments are fun because the children are able to work more independently and find answers out for themselves. They don't need as much adult assistance and are expected to shoulder much of the responsibility in thinking up their own topic, question and experiment to find the answer.

There are many possibilities for fifth grade science experiments, including seeing if the color of a light affects how bright it appears in fog or in water, finding out where the best place to store apples is, such as fridge, wicker basket or plastic bowl, or finding out if the temperature of a magnet affects it's magnetic field lines. To find out, the students will need a few magnets, one from the freezer, one kept at room temperature and one heated up. Have the students trace the magnetic field lines of each magnet by putting iron fillings on a sheet of paper over the magnet.

Educational Science

Another experiment students could try is to see if the starting temperature of water affects how long it takes to freeze. All you need to do is get three ice cube trays (or one and label the rows with the temperature of water you started with) and start with three different temperatures of water; hot, cold, and room temperature. When done, the tray is placed back in the freezer. The temperature of the water will need to be monitored to see which one freezes first, second, and third. Be sure to have the students record the results for all experiments!

Natural Gas Properties

Natural gas is a gaseous fossil fuel that has methane as its primary compound. It is derived from organic material that was deposited or buried under the earth, millions of years ago. It contains heavier gaseous hydrocarbons, like ethane propane, and butane as well as sulphur containing gases. Natural gas has certain properties that enable its use for industrial or domestic purpose. For instance, it contains non-poisonous ingredients that when inhaled gets absorbed into the blood.

Natural gas is tasteless and colorless and when mixed with the requisite volume of air and ignited, it burns with a clean, blue flame. It is considered one of the cleanest burning fuels, producing primarily heat, carbon dioxide and water vapor. Natural gas is odorless and before it is distributed to end-users, it is odorized by adding thiols, which also helps in detecting any leakage. Natural gas is lighter than air, and tends to disperse into the atmosphere. In a confined state within a house, gas concentrations can reach explosive mixtures and when ignited, it causes great hazard to life and property.

Educational Science

Natural gas has a peculiar characteristic of igniting only when there is an air-and-gas mixture and the percent of natural gas is between 5 and 15 percent. A mixture containing less than 5 percent or greater than 15 percent of natural gas would not ignite. Natural gas contains small quantities of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, sulfur components and water. Liquefaction is a process involving cooling and condensing of natural gas that removes the non-methane components such as carbon dioxide and sulfur. It leads to the formation of an extremely pure, clean-burning product that is efficient to transport and store.

Natural Gas Properties

Natural gas is the cleanest-burning fossil fuel available that leads to a cleaner environment. In places dominated by polluting energy sources, natural gas helps improve the quality of air and water. Natural gas burns to produce no harmful pollutants and is a highly reliable fuel for cooking.

Natural Gas Properties

Natural Gas provides detailed information on Natural Gas, Natural Gas Generators, Natural Gas Prices, Natural Gas Production and more. Natural Gas is affiliated with Current Oil Prices.

Maintaining Your Focus When Working At Home

The ability to maintain your focus when working from home is ESSENTIAL to your success. FACT!

Whilst working at home certainly has oodles of benefits, many home- business owners find it difficult at first to maintain their focus. Particularly in the early days, when there appears to be so much to do and not enough hours in the day to do it all! So many new skills to be acquired, books to be read, courses to be followed, websites to be built..... the list is pretty much endless, or so it seems- and, if you're not careful, you end up chasing your tail trying to get everything done at once and failing miserably. Does this sound like you? If so, then let me help you solve your problem

Educational Science

I know that I suffered terribly from lack of focus when I first started my home-based business and it almost led to me giving up and resuming my pharmacy career!

Maintaining Your Focus When Working At Home

Thankfully, I realised exactly what I was doing wrong and took steps to regain AND maintain my focus so as to make my online business a success:) So, exactly how do you maintain your focus when working at home? Maintaining your focus is not actually that difficult if you put your mind to it.....

Here's a list of things I did when the going got tough and I found myself lacking in focus:-
VISUALISE your goals using whatever method suits you best GET ORGANISED! Plan, Plan, Plan..... I can't stress this enough! Get into the habit of writing out monthly, weekly and daily plans and stick to them! Be realistic with your planning - particularly when you're first starting off working at home. If you give yourself an impossible number of tasks to be done then, the chances are, you'll end up working 24/7 in an attempt to achieve your goals ( and your family won't be too impressed, I can tell you ) OR, you'll quit because you feel you're getting nowhere fast and you'll start getting the terrible recurring thought that "this working at home mullarkey is no fun". If you are working at home full-time, then. obviously, you have more flexibility with your planning. If. however, you are working at home part-time and/or you have a full time job and are working at home to supplement your salary, then you have to be even more organised to make the best use of your time. EDUCATE YOURSELF- if you've never done any kind of internet marketing before, then you may have to learn a few new skills before you earn any money. These new skills are NOT rocket science and can be acquired quite quickly by just about anyone BUT, DO NOT TRY TO LEARN EVERYTHING AT ONCE! So many people seem to believe that you have to learn everything there is to know about everything in order to be successful when working at home. This is simply NOT true. Trying to learn everything at once is a surefire way to lose focus. Concentrate on acquiring ONE skill at a time before moving on to the next one because it will pay you in the the long term..... "jack of all trades and master of none" is the phrase that springs to mind here. TAKE CONSISTENT, DAILY ACTION-don't think that, just because you are working at home, you can treat your business as a hobby. It just doesn't work that way! Admittedly, as your business grows, and you can automate/outsource quite a large proportion of it, then you can get away with only working a few hours each day. But, when you first start working at home, you need to commit to "putting in the hours" to acquire the new skills you require and to get your business set-up and running efficiently. Try stick to a work routine as opposed to doing " a bit here and a bit there". Consistent, daily action is one of THE keys to success when working at home.

Working at home requires lots of motivation on your part.

Some home business owners find it hard to get motivated - particularly if they have never "been their own boss" before. This, whilst understandable, needs to be tackled in order to be successful. In my experience, motivation and focus are inextricably linked - by maintaining your focus when working at home, you will start to see results and this, in turn, boosts your motivation. When you are highly motivated, then it is much easier to remain focused and, thus, you achieve more in the way of both success and satisfaction and you appreciate just how great it is to be working at home.

Bread Mold Science Fair Projects Ideas

If you're looking for an interesting science fair project, then you may want to read more about bread mold science fair projects that you can do. They are easy and inexpensive to do but also allow you to follow all the steps of the scientific method.

It helps to first understand a little about mold. Mold is another word for fungi whose bodies gather and congeal together to form cottony vegetative bodies. Not all mold is cottony, however. Types of slimy mold are more like amoeba than their cottony cousins and leave a moister, slicker mass on the molded surface. However when it comes to bread, you will most always see the drier, threadlike mold.

Educational Science

Mold commonly grows on bread faster in warm, dark, moist conditions. However, mold can grow in light, and some molds can even grow on frozen foods. Molds grow in varying conditions, at varying speeds, in every color you can think of.

Bread Mold Science Fair Projects Ideas

Not just a disgusting addition to old food, mold can be beneficial in many ways. One of the most common ways mold is used positively is to make antibiotics such as penicillin. In 1928, Alexander Fleming accidentally discovered penicillin when he found mold growing on a discarded petri dish. The mold itself was not the miracle. Fleming discovered that the mold that had grown had killed the Staphylococcus aureus that he'd been growing in that particular petri dish. The rest is history!

Now that you know a little more about bread mold, you can use the ideas below to help you find potential bread mold science fair projects.

Does sodium have an effect on the growth of bread mold?

How and why does mold form on bread?

Is bread mold harmful to the human body if consumed? Why?

What are the optimal conditions for growing bread mold? Why?

Does light have an effect on the growth of bread mold? If so, what kind?

Do certain types of breads mold faster than others?

How to grow bread mold...

Take a cotton swab and collect some dust. Wipe the dust over the bread slices you want to experiment with. Place them in a bag with a few drops of water and seal the bag so the slices don't dry out.

Now you know a little more about bread mold and the types of experiments you can do. You may have an idea of what you would like to try as a project. Simply by asking questions about things that interest you, you can come up with great bread mold science fair projects that can be fun to do!

How To Create A Solar System Science Fair Project

Science fair projects are very helpful to motivate the students towards scientific study. It also provides the possibility of observing the real world and related problems in a closer way. It aims to develop curiosity about science and technology. It brings about improvement in the manipulative skills, knowledge, and self-confidence.

Solar system began forming 10 to 12 billion years ago as a swirling gas and dust formed a dense core. To visualize the Solar system, understand the orbital motion of the planets and to locate the actual position of the planets the solar system science fair projects are helpful.

Educational Science

Some simple solar system science fair projects ideas include answering questions such as:

How To Create A Solar System Science Fair Project

- Can we collect micrometeorites from the outdoor sources?

- Could the other planets support any life?

- What causes the phases of moon and what affects the phases of moon?

- How terrestrial planets are formed?

- Are there many other solar systems in the universe? Do they support life?

To study about the other galaxies and solar system present in this universe this project will be useful. A comparative study of why life is possible on earth and why not life is possible on other planets can be done in detail. Younger children can also build a model of the solar system and show the relationships between the planets.

Also consider looking at natural forces which occur in the solar system, such as exploring a question like, how are the magnetic fields affected by solar storms? Can we build a homemade magnetometer to measure that? The magnetic fields are affected by solar storms and cause small changes in its direction at the surface, which are called "magnetic storms." A magnetometer operates like a sensitive compass and senses these slight changes in the magnetic field. A homemade magnetometer can be constructed.

Can we identify black holes? If the answer is yes, how can it be done? By this project, the mysteries and curiosity about the black holes will take a shape and a clear knowledge about black holes can be gained. A thorough understanding of the nature of black holes is neceessary, and a lot of background information will be necessary for such a project.

You can make your own comet to know the details about the comets. A large comet is a spectacular sight and is a star like celestial body, which has a tail and still people have lots of doubts about it. To know better, this project will help out.

How to locate the position of a celestial body by a sidereal pointer? A sidereal pointer is an instrument that helps you to locate each celestial body in the night sky. How to construct a sidereal pointer easily can be discussed in this project in detail.

Solar system science projects are fairly demanding projects that represent a challenge. Each of the projects related with solar system science projects develops cognitive skills and help the students to leap forward.

Pros and Cons of Bilingual Education

Bilingual education has become very popular lately, with perhaps the most compelling reason for bilingual education being the concept of equality of education in our country. How is it possible for someone to obtain a great education when he or she doesn't fully understand the language the lessons are being taught in? Isn't that student going to become a second-class citizen? Should we just allow that to happen or should we teach them in their native language and worry about assimilation at some later time? The fact is that there are a lot of pros and cons about the subject.

On the positive side, there are many benefits of students learning another language at a very early age. It has been proven that children who learn to speak another language early in life have an easier time grasping the vocabulary, grammar, and nuances of both languages. It has also been shown that these same students will be able to move on to learning third and fourth languages just as easily. The reasons for this are varied, but one of the principal reasons is that many languages have their roots in a single ancient language such as Latin or Greek. As the nationalities have developed, their languages changed but kept a lot of the same words and word structure. Also as the world shrinks and everything becomes more global in nature, it is going to become ever more important to be able to communicate in more than one language.

Educational Science

There is no denying that bilingual education lessons should be taught to students at the elementary level. Waiting until high school will only make it more difficult on the children. Once a student becomes familiar with a second language it is much easier for him or her to master it as they grow older. It is also a good thing when students learn about the culture of different countries, which is enhanced by learning the language. Studies have proven that the ability to speak multiple languages does not confuse the mind. In fact, it helps to develop it faster and lead to a well rounded future.

Pros and Cons of Bilingual Education

On the negative side, there are people who feel that bilingual education is a bad idea because it takes away our sense of national identity. The United States has always been known as a "melting pot" of cultures where everyone is treated equally and every culture becomes assimilated into the primary culture of the United States. Historically, newcomers to this country have been forced to learn our English language and many of our ways, all the while contributing parts of their historic culture and making the entire culture better as a result. The argument is that by retaining the language of their old country, they are no longer as easily assimilated into this country.

Bilingual education is a concern in other countries as well as in the United States. For example, there is currently a movement underway in France to ensure that French remains the dominant language and that all citizens learn to speak French. Similarly in the United States many people feel that we as a country have gone too far overboard in making all the other cultures comfortable by printing everything in their home languages. The problem that is brought up is that, by printing everything in multiple native languages, the newcomers don't have to learn English. And if they don't learn English they will never be fully assimilated into the United States. By thus creating nationalistic cliques some people say that we are potentially creating the same type of societal issues that are found in other parts of the world and that those who are immigrating to the United States are frequently running away from. My personal belief is that children from other cultures who may speak other languages at home need to become familiar with English and that English should be the required language for all governmental affairs.

In summary, bilingual education is not a way to take anything away from American students. In fact, it is just the opposite. Language is an important part of the learning process. Young students are in position to learn a second language early on, which will benefit them greatly in the future. This is why so many school districts are implementing bilingual education criteria at lower grade levels. However, let us all recognize that there are issues to be faced in bilingual education and our schools and our society will need to face these issues fully.

3rd Grade Science Fair Projects and Ideas

3rd grade science fair projects are a lot of fun because at this age children are eager to explore the world around them and find out how things work. They are constantly wanting to know the answer to the question "What happens if I do this..." and therefore they will likely come up with many different experiments they'd like to try. It may be difficult to decide on just one!

At this age they have a short attention span though, so the projects must be simple, fun and fairly short. There are many, many different project ideas for this age group such as; do all the children in their class have the same size hands and the same size feet as each other? They can research this by tracing the other children's hands and feet on a piece of paper and comparing them to each other.

Educational Science

They could do a test to see if waterproof mascara is really waterproof. To do this you would need a couple brands of waterproof mascara, a piece of paper and some water. Simply put the mascara onto a sheet of paper and rinse it under some water to see what happens.

3rd Grade Science Fair Projects and Ideas

Another fun 3rd grade science project would be to see if raw eggs and hard boiled eggs spin the same number of times. Obviously they would need an adult's help with this one in order to cook the eggs, and then they simply need to spin each egg and record the results. There are lots of great 3rd grade science projects out there; it's just a matter of finding one that interests them.
