Every 5th grade project in science needs these important sections: title, materials, purpose (of the experiment), hypothesis (what you think is going to happen), procedure, results and conclusion. For this 5th grade science fair project idea:

5th Grade Science Fair Project Idea

Title: Come up with your own title!

Purpose: We all heard the saying water and oil do not mix. Why? Water and oil are both liquids and should mix like liquids. What will happen when we actually test this saying and mix oil and water? What will happen when we mix honey in? What will happen when when place objects in this mixture?

Hypothesis: This section is for your predictions. What do you think will happen when you pour the liquids in the jars? What do you think would happen to the objects? When you place objects into water, they usually sink. Do you think this will happen when you place objects in liquids that are not water? Don't worry about being right! Hypothesis can be wrong, after all you need to do the experiment to find out.

Materials: For this science fair project idea, you will need

honey small objects of different weights such as paper clips, coins, toys, marbles, etc. two different jars that are at least 8 inches tall water vegetable oil food coloring

Procedure:

Pour honey into one jar so it is 2 inches high. Food color the water (pick whatever color you like best!) and then pour 2 inches of water into the same jar with the honey. Then add oil to the same jar, 2 inches high again. Pour the liquids in reverse order in the second jar. (oil, water, honey) Put the objects in one jar. See what happens to the objects after 10 minutes, one hour, two hours. Repeat step five for objects in the second jar.

Results: What happened? Describe everything. You don't need to include explanations of why something occurred. Make sure to bring to jars to the science fair!

Third Grade Science Fair Projects

Primary children are the best age group for a teacher to handle. They are small and curious to know and learn a lot. They are still simple, loving and obedient. If the teacher makes her class interesting by giving them third grade science fair projects, they understand very well and the concept becomes crystal clear in their minds.

A third grade science fair project for body parts - Make them place their palm and fingers on a piece of thick paper and trace the outline of all the fingers, the children can color the same, they can label the names of the different fingers and some children are innovative, they even decorate the ring finger by drawing a ring and paste shiny beads to depict a ring, some of them color the nails with nail polish.

Houses for human beings made with thick card board, huts with dried leaves, nest with twigs, cotton etc. The teacher can teach how the house protects us from heat, cold, rain, enemies etc.

Third Grade Science Fair Projects

How to keep the house clean can be an extension of the previous topic. The children should be taught to put waste paper or any other waste item in the dust bin. Make a dustbin without spending money with the concept of "Handwork out of Waste".

Animals, birds and their young ones -- cut pictures of big animals with their young one and make a third grade science fair project or a scrap book.

Plants need air, sunlight, and water to grow. Take two plants and make them grow in different pots - one pot is placed outside whereas the other pot inside a cardboard box. Cut a small hole in any one side so that the sunlight can come through that hole. Observe after few days.

Does the amount of fertilizers given to a plant affect the growth? Take three plants, first one give only water, for the second one water plus little fertilizer and the third one water plus more of fertilizer, watch the plants, you will be surprised the one with only water is the best, so don't give too much of fertilizer to the young plant, once in a while one can give little bit.

Different kinds of soil can be made in small transparent pouches and pasted in the main chart.

Food, balanced diet can be done in a pyramid form, so that the children know which food is more important for the body. Eating healthy food and being healthy can be depicted as ladders, and the diseases one can get can be depicted as snakes and make a Snakes and Ladder project. The third grade science fair projects are easy to make, easy to explain and easy to understand for the children. Once a child makes or sees a third grade science fair project, he/she will never forget the scientific concept they learned from it.

Evidence Supporting the Existence of Mermaids

It was believed that a creature of upper human body and lower fish body had circulated the oceans back 5,000 B.C. According to some religious myths, these mermaids rose from the depth of the oceans to educate man. A-well known historian and scientists, Pliny the Elder had documented the accounts of these 'real mermaids'. He was quite sure about the existence of this creature and called them scaled and rough all over. After that conviction, thousands of fishers and sailors worldwide had reported of seeing the 'real mermaids' swimming close to their ships.

In this context, Christopher Columbus also described his encounter with a 'mermaid' in 1493 at the ocean of Haiti. He stated that these creatures came out of water slightly and they were not beautiful as mentioned in fictions. Later, in an antiquated text of history named as Speculum Regale, it was written around 1250 in Norway, the mermaids are not depicted as pretty women but like a semi aquatic creature. In the 13th century, a person Physiologus in his book of animal study had described about real 'mermaid' consisting of upper woman body and lower fish body. Later in the book of Historia Monstrorum, the author had reported the union of mermaid near the River Nile.

Educational Science

In 1608, Henry Hudson had explored the existence of mermaid near the region of Russia. He described a creature looking like man from upper part having a speckled and porpoise like a mackerel. according to his view, this creature had white skin, woman breasts and long hair at back. Recently in 2004, a 'mermaid' corpse was seen in the ocean of Chennai after the account of tsunami. However, researcher believes that stories about existence of real mermaid are merely example of misunderstanding. While other believes that mermaid is the actual creature that lives into depth of the sea and now they have become extinct due to the environmental pollution.

The Mis-Education of Symptoms

Homeopathic Healing: The Mis-Education of Symptoms

What do symptoms have to do with healing? Aren't you busy enough that they're just simply in the way?

Educational Science

There are many businesses and industries that would have you believe this. They make a lot of money from offering you drugs that suppress or mask your symptoms for the sake of not inconveniencing your life. You can carry on and just take that pill, or pills, and continue on...until you need another pill to deal with the side effects from those pills. So long as the drugs and symptoms don't interfere with the convenience of your life, it continues on and on, with more and more drugs being added.

The Mis-Education of Symptoms

Yet, your symptoms are your body's natural feedback loop that tell you something is wrong in the body. The symptoms are not the problem. We need to look deeper than that for true healing.

Your body has a natural healing ability. Take, for example, a cut on your finger. Over time, it will heal itself. There is relatively little you need to do to help it. Such a healing intelligence not only occurs on the physical level, but also on the mental and emotional levels of who we are, as well. This natural tendency of the body/mind/emotions to heal is referred to, in homeopathy, as the Vital Force.

The Vital Force is a non-physical, in-animate, healing intelligence. So far, modern science has yet to measure where or how it works. Much of the scrutiny homeopathy receives resides in this feature. I don't get too hung up on that, though. Can scientific instruments measure how much you love something or someone? Physical instruments can measure what physical parts of the brain are involved when someone loves, but the experience itself cannot be quantified or measured. Such mysteries open up our minds and our hearts to the workings of the universe that cannot be explained, yet remain completely relevant to our life.

In homeopathy, disease originates as a mis-tunement of the Vital Force. This is in energetic terms, not in biochemical pathways or physiological processes. Such an energetic disturbance manifests its effects as the physiological/biochemical symptoms that we all experience. The symptoms can be mental or emotional or physical, or more commonly - all at the same time. More specifically, this is when we have allergies, or cultivate addictions, or have chronic physical pains, or feel emotionally unstable or depressed, etc.

Because disease originates pre-physically, our symptoms are meant to be worked with, rather than against. Suppressing them or masking them only makes the Vital Force express the mis-tunement in a different way. This is one reason why drugs have so many side effects. Not only is the drug toxic and thus creates several adverse reactions in the body, but it also prevents the Vital Force from expressing the natural disease of the individual. The mis-tunement of the Vital Force has to go somewhere. Typically, the natural, pre-physical disease of the person worsens as a result of suppressed symptoms. Perhaps this could be one of the reasons why, despite great advances in technology, our state of health has declined, new deadly viruses continue to spring up, and cancer rates have increased.

To summarize, in our culture we've been mis-educated about the role of symptoms. Rather than suppress them, they are meant to be worked with. Symptoms are the end result of an inner, energetic mis-tunement of the Vital Force. When we understand the true nature of symptoms, we can better rely upon methods of healing, like homeopathy, that honor them and seek to strengthen the Vital Force's ability to help heal ourselves.

In great health and healing,

Noel Peterson
